FAQs

Clinical Psychologists undergo rigorous training which includes teaching and experience of working with people across the whole life span. We are also trained in several evidence-based psychological therapy models and have skills in developing individualised ‘formulations’ (a fancy word for psychological understandings) of your current difficulties which forms a map for future therapy work. In addition to this, we are highly trained researchers which allows us to appraise, contribute to and keep up to date with the evidence base, ensuring the highest quality of care. Finally, Clinical Psychologists are accredited with the Health and Care Professions Council and therefore you can trust that we are appropriately regulated.

Psychological therapy is confidential, which means what you say to me will be kept between us. The exceptions to this are if I am concerned for your safety or the safety of others in which case I am required to pass on this information. This is standard practice and is the same of any psychologist, therapist, or counsellor. This can be fully explained at the outset of appointments.

For people who are self-funding, sessions are charged at £100 per hour payable through bank transfer. I have set fees with insurance providers (I am registered with Aviva, AXA, BUPA and Vitality).

Sessions are typically 60 mins long

This will depend on your needs – typically therapy sessions work best either on a weekly or fortnightly basis. There are occasions when longer spaces between therapy sessions may be indicated, however this is usually once therapy work is already established, and this will be decided on a case-by-case basis depending on our shared understanding of your difficulties and needs.
