The Nurtured Mums Collective

‘The Nurtured Mum’s Collective’ was founded in 2025 by me – Dr Emily Haigh, Clinical Psychologist and my colleague – Dr Anna Ridding, Clinical Psychologist. Our vision is to offer support for mothers who may be experiencing psychological distress during their motherhood journey.

We are planning to launch an introductory 90 minute online workshop called ‘Calm and Connected’ later this year which is aimed at mothers with young children under the age of 2. You can find more information about this workshop below. If you are interested in this workshop or would like us to keep you informed about the exciting plans we have to support women during their motherhood journey – please do not hesitate to e-mail us at thenurturedmumscollective@gmail.com.

Calm and Connected workshop (date and time TBC)

Do you feel that since becoming a mum you:

  • Have lost your identity?
  • Find it hard to balance the needs of your family, work and… you(!!)
  • Feel overwhelmed and struggle to allow yourself to rest, relax… have fun?
  • Feel guilty… like a lot!

Becoming a parent is a transition which can come with feelings of joy and fulfilment, but can also leave women struggling with mood, loneliness and a sense of isolation. This workshop has been designed to support women in the early stages of motherhood. During the workshop we will focus on building psychological skills aimed at helping you to nurture yourself, prioritise  your needs and reclaim your identity.

Who are we?

We are Dr Anna and Dr Emily, two highly skilled Clinical Psychologists and fellow mums. We have extensive experience in offering psychological therapy, groups and workshops in a diverse range of settings and have a special interest in supporting women in their motherhood journeys. As mums ourselves we know what it is like to be a new mum and the struggles that can come with this (and we also recognise that there isn’t often a lot of support targeted at maternal wellbeing and we want to change this!)

What is a workshop?

In this 90 minute workshop we will:

  • Think about the psychological changes that can occur in new motherhood, and encourage you to reflect on how this relates to your motherhood journey.
  • Teach skills to help you cope. These will include skills in developing self-compassion, containing overwhelming emotions and being the best version of you.
  • Help you create a plan that prioritises your wellbeing going forward, helping you be more present and connect with your authentic self.

Who is the workshop for?

Women in the early stages of motherhood (defined as up to 2 years post birth).

This workshop is not suitable for people who are experiencing significant mental health distress including suicidal thoughts or self-harm. If you are experiencing significant mental health distress, we would encourage you to speak with your GP to find out about the local support options which may be available.
